On the occasion of the publication of the number 66 of the magazine ‘Papers. Metropolitan Region of Barcelona’, dedicated to rental housing policies in the 21st century, the Metropolitan Housing Observatory of Barcelona and the Institute Metròpoli organize a debate day that focuses on knowing and discussing what is surely the main structural aspect of housing policies: the social park.
‘The challenges for the increase and management of the social housing stock’ brings together some of the main experts in the sector to analyze, on the one hand, the increase in the social housing stock, which is configured as a structural pillar of housing policy during the 21st century in those territories where there are more deficiencies. On the other hand, together with the increase, the management of this park is presented as a challenge, in a context in which the orientations of public housing policies are focused on the increase of the social rental park.
The day, therefore, is conceived as a space for pooling and debating the potentialities and problems for the increase and management of the social housing stock.
Thus, after the presentation of the monographic issue of the magazine Papers, which will be distributed among the attendees to the event, it will be discussed specifically about the social park. First, a presentation and dialogue will be held based on the study carried out by the O-HB ‘Map of social housing managers of the Barcelona area’. Next, two round tables will be developed. The first is the question of increasing the stock of social housing, based on issues relating to urban planning, financing and taxation. In the second, the focus is on management, both in terms of the different organizational forms, in real estate management itself, and in terms of the integrality of policies.
The conference is aimed at the public interested in housing policies, not necessarily an expert in this specific field. In fact, one of the main objectives of the day is to share the relevance of the topic in question, beyond the specialized circles.
